ADA-compliant signs must include Grade 2 contracted Braille, raised tactile characters at least 1/32 inch high, non-glare finish, high contrast between text and background, sans-serif fonts, and proper mounting height of 60 inches to centerline on the latch side of a door. Signs must also include pictograms where required and meet federal ADA Title III standards.

Not all interior signs require ADA compliance — only those that identify permanent rooms and spaces, such as restrooms, room numbers, exits, and stairwells.
